Hello there! I'm running on faith and frayed thread here! I'm trying to get some funds together to help me cover the cost of a motel room and a little gas while I'm visiting my son out of town. He's mentally ill and suffering from a very intense episode that's taking more time to get under control than I anticipated it would. As I am disabled, my only income is SSI and I just don't have any extra to cover this expense. However, I can't just not be with him. His life is at stake here! I feel it detrimental that I be nearby but I live 5 hours away from him. I'm not even asking for an allotment for food. I'll get by. But I really need to be here with him. This is way out of character for me as I just don't ask for help. Ever. For anything. But this has got me quite troubled and I can't let money and pride be what stands in the way of my being there for the most important thing in my life. It's taking a huge toll on him. He is an Assistant Chief at his nearby VFD. And for obvious reasons, this illness is robing him of his life's passion.  He runs hard and fast to save everybody else.......this time, he's the one that needs saving.
