My name is Lt. Joseph Farrelll and I have worked for the FDNY for the past 20 years. My wife and I need your help! Please read about my wife, Danielle Farrell's Liver Journey below, in her own words.

I would like to give you all a quick backstory of my liver journey. I was born in December of 1982 and was diagnosed with  a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia.

My case is a little different as it is technically not my liver so much that needs a total makeover, it’s my bile ducts. As normal bile ducts look like tree branches, mine looks like popcorn scattered with no place to go!  You can’t just replace bile ducts- my whole liver will need to be removed and replaced. As my liver #’s put me at the lower end of the deceased donor registry, we will have a better chance at finding a Living Donor! As Family members have been going through testing I am finally ready to share my story with everyone. 

Now I am asking you for help! I need a “Sliver of your Liver”  (that made me laugh the 1st time I said it out loud) so that’s my funny quote to get me through these tough times. 

How does one become a Living Liver Donor? 

• Acceptable Blood Types are  B+, B-, O+ ,and O-
• age of 18-60
• In Good Health
• Interested in Saving a Life
