Stockton Firefighters are heartbroken. Our friend and brother Captain Max Fortuna was tragically taken from us. A 21 year veteran of the Stockton Fire Department, Captain Fortuna was on Engine 2 at an outdoor fire when he was struck by gunfire at the scene. It is a devastating loss for his wife, two children, family, and our fire department. We are working on details for his services, and will update as more information becomes available. We love you Max.

I knew Max as a client. He came to my Spa, LyfeStyle Wellness to build muscle. He was such a great person. We talked about the Bible and he’s love for God, his wife and children, his craziest firefight moments. He was a light. I enjoyed each session with him. He truly was a great man of God. He will be missed, it we know where he is! Laurie Rodriguez
We have been in awe of Stockton Fire since our son started as a trainee. Captain Max Fortuna was his first Captain. We were comforted to hear of the further training and information he received from the Captain and the spirit of family and community that was extended. Max Fortuna will be remembered.

We are a firefighting family also and are so heartfeltly sorry for this great loss!!!! The reason it’s hard to know one why things like this happen, but they just do sometimes, and all we can do is keep our memories close and try to carry on for their sake. Sending so much love to your dear family! ❤️😢
