FDNY Paramedic Jason Dwyer is a 19 year veteran for the FDNY and Father to a 7 year old boy, Logan. On October 2nd while at work Jason began experiencing stroke-like symptoms, he was taken to the ER for evaluation and it was discovered that he has a 7mm cavernoma with blood present in his brain.
Jason is known by many from his time at Stations 49, 04, 08, and currently Station 45. If you have gone through the Medic Basic program, you most likely know Jason as a preceptor. His mother is Paramedic (Ret.) Lorna Farrell from Station 26 in the Bronx. Currently Jason is the sole provider for his household as his wife, Stephanie is out of work due to CRPS.
Due to the cavernoma, Jason has been advised by his neurologist to avoid any strenuous activity; therefore he is unable to work at this time. He has been out sick leave since December 12th and is currently out of time and without pay. At this time Jason is looking at the potential of surgery after January 24th.
Donations from this campaign will go towards rent, and medical bills post-surgery and during his recovery until he is able to return to duty.
If you know Jason you know he would give you the shirt off his back. Please give what you can and support our brother in his time of need.
