Created June 15th, 2026

On Monday, June 15th, 2026 two Florida Highway Patrol Troopers were seriously injured while performing their duties on the Florida Turnpike.

Troopers Amaury Quiñones and Alexis Otano were stopped on the northbound Turnpike near the 33-mile marker, changing a tire on their motorcycle trailer. Trooper Quiñones was seated inside his marked patrol vehicle parked behind the trailer, while Trooper Otano was retrieving a tire from inside the trailer to complete the repair.

Tragically, a black SUV traveled onto the left shoulder and struck the rear of Trooper Quiñones' marked patrol vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the patrol vehicle into the trailer, causing it to strike Trooper Otano.

Both troopers sustained injuries and were transported for medical treatment—one by ambulance and one by air rescue. We are grateful to report that both troopers are currently in stable condition as they begin their road to recovery.

As members of our law enforcement family, Troopers Quiñones and Otano have dedicated themselves to protecting the people of Florida. Now, we have an opportunity to stand beside them and their families during this difficult time.

Funds raised through this campaign will help provide support to the troopers and their families as they focus on healing and recovery.

Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and unwavering support of those who put on the uniform and serve our communities every day.
