Help NYPD Officer Jeff Vilus Fight Stage IV Colon Cancer
A Brother in Blue. A Loving Son. A Big Brother. A Man of Faith. A Fighter.
Today, we come together with heavy hearts, hope, and faith to support one of our own, NYPD Police Officer Jeff Vilus, who is courageously battling Stage IV colon cancer.
Jeff is more than just a police officer. He is a devoted son, a loving big brother, a man of strong faith, and someone who has dedicated his life to helping others.
With over four years of dedicated service to the NYPD, Officer Jeff Vilus has demonstrated kindness, compassion, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to protecting and serving the Brooklyn community, particularly within the 76th Precinct.
As a former Neighborhood Coordination Officer (NCO), Jeff went above and beyond his regular duties. He built meaningful relationships with residents, listened to their concerns, offered guidance, and helped people feel safe and supported. He wasn’t just an officer patrolling the neighborhood — he was someone the community knew, respected, and trusted.
His dedication and willingness to help others made a lasting difference in the lives of those he served. To his fellow officers, Jeff is a brother and a valued teammate. To his community, he is a familiar and caring presence. And to his family, he means everything.
Outside of work, Jeff is deeply devoted to God, his church, and his family. As an older brother to his younger brother and two younger sisters, he has always valued family and helping those he loves.
Jeff has spent years showing up for others. Today, he is facing the fight of his life, and now it’s our turn to stand beside him.
A Difficult Battle Against Cancer
Last year, Jeff received the devastating diagnosis of Stage IV colon cancer. Since then, he has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and medical procedures, facing tremendous physical and emotional challenges.
He is now preparing for his second major surgery, another difficult step in his fight against cancer.
Due to his illness, Jeff is no longer able to work. Before his diagnosis, he helped support his household. His loss of income, combined with mounting medical and everyday expenses, has placed a significant financial burden on his family.
Despite these challenges, Jeff continues to face each day with courage, determination, and faith.
A Family’s Love and Sacrifice
Throughout Jeff’s battle, his parents have worked tirelessly to support their household while wishing they could spend more time by their son’s side.
His father continues working hard to keep the family financially stable, while his mother faces the same difficult responsibility. Both parents want to be present for Jeff’s treatments, surgeries, and recovery, but their financial obligations make taking time away from work extremely difficult.
No parent should have to choose between supporting their household and being present for their child during such a difficult time.
One of our greatest goals is to ease this financial burden, allowing Jeff’s parents to spend more time with him while he undergoes treatment and recovery. We also hope to give his younger siblings the opportunity to be close to their big brother and support him throughout this journey.
Our Mission — Supporting Jeff and His Family
Through this fundraiser, we hope to provide financial assistance with:
- Medical expenses:Â Surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, medications, and ongoing treatment.
- Family support: Helping Jeff’s parents take time away from work to be by his side.
- Household expenses:Â Housing, utilities, groceries, and everyday necessities.
- Recovery and transportation:Â Medical appointments, transportation, and other treatment-related needs.
Our goal is simple:Â to help Jeff focus on his health and recovery while providing his family with financial stability and peace of mind.
Standing Together for Jeff
We invite our churches and faith communities, fellow law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, military members, healthcare professionals, family, friends, and supporters everywhere to stand with Jeff during this challenging time.
Jeff has dedicated years of his life to serving others. Now, we have an opportunity to show him the same kindness, compassion, and support he has given to his community.
Every contribution, regardless of the amount, will help ease the financial burden on Jeff and his family. Sharing his story and keeping him in your prayers are equally meaningful ways to show support.
As the Bible reminds us:
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (KJV)
Our greatest hope and prayer is for Jeff to overcome this cancer, regain his health, and enjoy many more years surrounded by the people he loves.
To Jeff: You have spent years serving others. Now it’s our turn to stand beside you. Your family, your church, your community, and your brothers and sisters in blue are with you every step of the way.
Thank you to everyone who has offered their prayers, encouragement, generosity, and support to Jeff and his family.
One Family. One Community. One Mission.
Together, We Fight. No Brother Fights Alone.

With love, faith, and unwavering support,
The Family, Friends, Community, and Brothers and Sisters in Blue of Officer Jeff Vilus
