Help Alex fight!

Alex is a San Diego Sheriff's Deputy, but more importantly a husband to his wife, Rocio, and the father of two beautiful children (Issac and Madelyn). Alex is currently fighting stage 4 metastatic colon cancer. He has exhausted his departmental leave, savings, and earns the primary income for his family. This is Alex's third battle with terrible cancers.

For those of you that know Alex he is a hard worker, thoughtful partner, a family man, and has an unshakable faith in God.  Alex is a kind, humble man and would not ask his partners for help. That is why we are rushing to his aid.

Alex has sought traditional cancer treatment but is now trying alternative therapies in Mexico attempting to extend his life and be with his family.  Therapy thus far has cost in excess of $76,000 and Alex still has many treatments ahead of him. Please help us raise the much-needed funds for his fight against this disease!

Alex's story in his words:

My name is Alex Bonee, and my life has been a testament to the power of faith, love, and the unyielding will to live for my wife and children. Through every trial, God has carried me, and the prayers, support, and generosity of my co-workers, church family, friends, and loved ones have lifted me up when I needed it most. Today, I’m reaching out for help to continue this fight against cancer—a battle I’m determined to win with God’s strength and your support.

In 2005, at just 15 years old, I faced stage 4 testicular cancer. I was in the middle of high school, yearning for the normalcy of youth, when aggressive chemotherapy and surgery became my reality. By God’s grace, I overcame it, and I emerged with a deeper trust in His plan for me.

Years later, in 2019, life threw another challenge my way: stage 3c colon cancer. This time, I was married to my incredible wife and the proud father of our 1 ½-year-old son. After surgery, I seized the opportunity to transform my diet and lifestyle, fueled by my drive to be there for my family. God saw me through remission, and I thought the worst was behind me.

But in 2022, the cancer returned locally, bringing excruciating pain. By then, our family had grown with the arrival of our precious 2-year-old daughter. The tumor pinched my right ureter, requiring a nephrostomy tube for six months, while I endured 8 rounds of chemotherapy from May to September 2022, followed by 28 sessions of radiation from October to December. The treatments shrank the tumor, and I awaited surgery to remove what remained. But in February 2023, complications struck—blood clots formed in my heart and lungs due to my chest port catheter. One terrifying night in the hospital, I struggled to breathe, feeling like I was suffocating, until the doctors intervened. I clung to my faith, trusting God to pull me through.

Surgery was delayed as I completed three months of blood thinners. On June 7, 2023, I underwent a “perfect” colon reconnection—or so we thought. Just days after being discharged, I returned to the hospital with severe stomach pain. The reconnection had failed, leaking bile into my body and causing sepsis and MRSA. An emergency surgery gave me a colostomy bag, and I spent 11 more days in the hospital. Weeks later, the pain returned, revealing a tennis ball-sized abscess on my rectal stump. Drains were inserted, and soon after, a small bowel obstruction required an NG tube through my nose. Even after discharge, I lived with drains for weeks. Amid these relentless complications, I couldn’t even celebrate that I was in remission from the cancer itself.

For 11 months, I adapted to life with a colostomy, facing daily challenges with unwavering faith. In May 2024, I had surgery to reverse it, switching to an ileostomy to let my body heal. The ileostomy was ten times harder—painful, uncomfortable, and exhausting. Then, in August 2024, a PET scan delivered devastating news: stage 4 colon cancer, now metastasized to my chest and lungs. My oncologist offered only indefinite chemo, saying a cure was no longer possible—just a delay until the cancer overtook me. But I refused to surrender. I knew God had bigger plans.

With fervent prayer, I sought alternatives and discovered Hope4Cancer clinic in Mexico, offering non-toxic treatments. My co-workers, church family, friends, and loved ones rallied behind me. My workplace hosted fundraisers, and family donated what they could. In September and October 2024, I spent three weeks as an inpatient, receiving therapies 10-12 hours a day. By the end of week one, I felt better than I had in years—hip pain from radiation and surgeries vanished, and my energy returned. In December 2024, prayers were answered again: my ileostomy was reversed successfully, with no complications.

Yet, the cancer remains. In January 2025, I returned to Hope4Cancer for six weeks of treatment, four days a week. My latest scans show incredible progress—tumors shrinking, cellular activity decreasing. These treatments, though uninsured and costly, are my lifeline. My faith in God, my will to live for my wife and kids, and the overwhelming love from my co-workers, church family, friends, and supporters have brought me this far.

I’m asking for your help to continue this journey. Every donation, no matter the size, will fund my ongoing treatment in Mexico and keep hope alive. I’m endlessly grateful for my co-workers’ generosity, my church family’s prayers, my family’s sacrifices, and my friends’ encouragement. With God’s strength and your support, I believe I can overcome this. Thank you for standing with me.

Update from Rocio Bonee, Alex's wife:

Alexander Bonee, what can I say about this man? As a father, our kids couldn’t be more blessed. He is a loving, caring, and playful father. As a husband, he is awesome; he is my inspiration, my best friend, my soulmate. I am so proud of him and blessed to have him. As a friend, he is excellent. He is a man of God; his gentleness, wisdom, patience, and perseverance are all gifts from above.

Alex has gone through a long journey with perseverance and patience. He has overcome a lot by the grace of God, who never fails us, and He is always present even during hard times. Without God, none of this could be possible. We have an overwhelming peace knowing that our Father in heaven is in control, and we have a God who keeps His promises. We will never give up in this battle because God never gives up on us. Having said that, I want to say I am overwhelmed by God’s love through all of you—our family, friends, church family, coworkers that have become family. It humbles my heart seeing all of your support, help, and prayers. I hope this gets to all of you that are thinking of us. I pray that God pours His love and blessings over you and your families. I will be forever grateful for helping us to keep our family together. I will never have enough or the right words to thank you all for all you do to help us and walk this path with us in some way. Our faith in God is strong, and we know that with God, everything is possible. May God bless you all.
