Created August 6th, 2026

In the early morning hours of July 29th 2026, Ex Captain Dan Moorehead of Protection Hook & Ladder Co 931 was awoken by smoke in his house when it was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm. His fellow company members along with the Hicksville Fire Department managed to contain the large volume of fire to the attic, but all floors of the Moorehead’s house suffered severe water damage as a result of the operation. As an over 30 year member of The Hicksville Fire Department who still is active and serves his community, please consider supporting Ex - Captain Moorehead and his family as they go through this difficult time and repair their home. Thank you!
