Honoring the Lives of Police Officers Cameron Girvin and Chris Reese

Death
Virginia
Created February 23rd, 2025

Late Friday evening, the Virginia Beach community suffered an unimaginable tragedy. Police Officer Cameron Girvin and Police Officer Chris Reese made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting their city.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Officers Girvin and Reese conducted a traffic stop on Sylvan Court after observing a vehicle with an expired plate. When the officers requested the driver to exit the vehicle, the situation escalated. The suspect resisted, then suddenly pulled a firearm and shot both officers. As they lay incapacitated on the ground, the suspect fired at them again before fleeing.

Despite the heroic efforts of first responders and medical personnel, Officer Reese succumbed to his injuries just after midnight at Princess Anne Hospital. Officer Girvin tragically passed away at 4:30 a.m. at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Officer Cameron Girvin served with the Virginia Beach Police Department for five years. He is survived by his wife and parents.

Officer Chris Reese dedicated six years to law enforcement, serving three years with the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office before joining the police force three years ago.

These brave officers gave their lives to protect their community, and now it is our turn to give back. This verified fundraiser has been created to provide direct financial support to the next of kin of Officers Girvin and Reese. Every dollar donated will be sent directly to their families to assist them during this devastating time.

We ask for your support in honoring their legacy. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign to ensure that their loved ones receive the help they need.

Rest in peace, Officers Girvin and Reese. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
