This fundraiser is to cover the out of pocket costs that insurance will never, ever cover. I will have to relocate to Cleveland, Ohio once I get "the call" and then am discharged from the hospital after successful transplant. The Cleveland Clinic requires this for anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. There will be constant trips back and forth to the clinic to monitor and signs of rejection. All this while I maintain my apartment here in Lancaster, NY. I only have social security coming into my household. All the costs of housing and food are my responsibility. High stakes for someone on SS.
I've been a LPN since 1976. I graduated Nursing school in 1975 and joined the Air Force on 2Feb76. After I got my Honorable Discharge in 1980 I worked up and down the east coast. I got my Bachelors Degree in 1986 but continued working as a LPN, just couldn't get away from it. In 2007 I was forced to retire due to Pulmonary Fibrosis, Hence the need for a transplant. I was told back then I had 3 to 7 to live. I forgot to die! now, going into 2023 I need both of these lungs replaced pretty soon. It took me a year to get listed going thru all the tests

this Monday morning finds me back in Cleveland lying in a bed in their ICU waiting to find out if a different pair of lungs are suitable enough to be transplanted into this body. May the third time be the final time. IV line in, CXR done, telemetry attached and now in WAIT MODE!! 11:11 AM and will not know anything until after the start of the College Football Championship game.
Back from Cleveland after second dry run. These dry run trips are getting expensive. My transplant buddies are spending $200/nite just for the hotel room and then there is food and gas costs. All while I am in an ICU Bed hooked up to telemetry, blood pressure cuff, alternating pressure stockings, etc. I'm just laying there waiting on word of the lungs viability for implant. At least I got a TV. Lying in a bed for multiple hours is exhausting. I've been thru this twice in the past week and I am tired!! Please help me with these costs.
