I’m a disabled veteran with limited income due to my disability which prevents me from working. My disability worsened and I was housebound. Unable to keep up with rent because of limited resources I had to move. I put everything I owned in a 10x20 Public Storage unit until I was able to find a new home. A couple of months later I found a home, And that’s when the tragedy happened.  I had an infestation of rats in my unit, They dug into my sofas and mattresses and made nest inside, feces and urine was everywhere, the smell was horrible, they even chewed through the boxes of clothes and tore up my clothes and my children clothes, it’s terrible, the rats were still in there roaming around. Nothing was salvageable, I went through the steps of contacting the property manager and they directed me to the insurance, took them 3 weeks to contact me back and they are saying that with rodents they only pay up to $250 in damages with a $100 deductible which means $150 I’ll receive for everything I owned that was lost. This is extremely depressing knowing that I lost all of my belongings.
