My name is Dr. Wendy Stephens. I am a Clinical Psychologist and Marriage, Family Therapist who has worked in the field for more than 30 years. My beautiful Arab horse named Beyah Bey got sick 10 days ago. I use her in my equine therapy work with children and adults. She was born in 2000 and is the kindest, most beautiful girl in my world. When I called to have the vet come out I thought it was colic. Six days later I called again as she was not getting better. She was again treated for colic but we found out three days later that there was something else going on. She would go down on the ground and not want to move at all. We decided to take her to a specialist clinic that does surgery in New Hampshire ( I live in Springfield, VT) call Mhyree Equine Clinic. The vet that did her evaluation identified that there is a blockage in her small intestine that requires exploratory surgery. Hopefully the surgeon Dr. Mhyree (48 years of experience) will be able to treat her once he identifies  the source of the blockage. The estimate for the surgeries of this kind cost anywhere between 10 k-20k. I am 71 years old and still working and paying off my student loans and do not have that kind of money. If you have ever been treated by a psychotherapist and received relief would you please consider paying it  back to me in the form of assisting with this surgery. This is my 7th night of not having Beyah at home with me and I miss her so. I will let you know more about next step in her surgery and the cost. I have paid $2500, as a deposit and hope to learn more soon. The two previous vet visits cost $696.00

Beyah Bey is having surgery on Monday October 10. Please donate whatever you are able to as every dollar counts.

Thank you
