Matthew Franco, the head coach of the New Haven Police Activity League's Boxing and Jiu Jitsu programs, is participating in the Ironman Maryland on September 21, 2024, to raise awareness and funds for the New Haven Police Activity League (PAL) Boxing Program. The PAL program serves as a crucial crime prevention initiative, offering youth in the New Haven community positive opportunities through athletics, mentorship, and guidance.

The goal of this fundraiser is to secure financial support for the purchase of a new facility for the PAL Boxing Program. This new space will allow the program to expand, providing a safe environment where young people can build discipline, leadership skills, and self-confidence through boxing.

Matthew’s commitment to this cause stems from a belief that empowering youth through sports can change their lives, guiding them toward becoming future leaders. By participating in the Ironman, he hopes to inspire others to contribute to this important cause, helping to create a brighter future for the New Haven community.
