Hello Friends, Family, Police Supporters, and Brothers/Sisters in Blue.
Patrol Sgt. Tom Moldenhouer, is a 17 year veteran with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, who desperately needs your help. Tom is known to be one of the kindest, patient, and humble people who wears a police uniform. He is always there when someone needs a hand, but now the roles are reversed.
In October of 2021, Tom was on duty when he suddenly suffered a medical emergency. Another deputy, believing that he was having a seizure, rendered aid and brought him to the hospital.
After being released from the hospital, he was DENIED work related medical coverage. He then requested a reasonable accommodation to return to work. In disbelief he was DENIED. These actions have led Tom to where he is today.
After many appointments with neurologists and counselors, an additional diagnosis of PTSD was revealed. After honorable service in the face of several traumatic incidents, the results have taken a toll on his health. The doctors advised that PTSD can trigger epileptic episodes. Tom again asked his employer for a reasonable accommodation and again was DENIED.
Tom has been financially handcuffed for almost two years. He cannot return to work because he is not cleared by the department for patrol. He cannot get them to approve a “light duty” administrative position in order to continue working in some alternative capacity. And now, after multiple discussions, arguments, and legal battles with the employer, Tom is now out of work and out of time. He has NO INCOME and NO health insurance.
Members of our agency have donated time and money to him, but that has run out as well. We ask each of you to consider providing any level of support possible through this hard time! One of our own needs assistance.
Checks can also be written to Tom Moldenhouer and mailed to the PBA at: Saratoga County Deputy Sheriffs PBA, PO BOX 2291, Ballston Spa NY, 12020
