On October 12, 2022 Officer Alex Hamzy, Officer Alec Iurato and Sergeant Dustin DeMonte responded to a domestic disturbance call. As the three officers arrived on scene, a suspect ambushed all three officers. Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte were killed by the suspect. Officer Iurato was struck by gunfire, returned fire and killed the suspect.
This fundraiser will directly benefit Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte’s families. Thank you so much for your support.

Our condolences from the Lake Housatonic Authority Marine Patrol
Our hearts ache for the families of the deceased as well as the entire Bristol Police Department.
As parents of a police officer this is the type of possible nightmare that the family lives with every day. Our hearts are broken for the 3 officers: 2 of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice and also for Officer Iurato who will live with the scar of this tragedy forever.

So sad. I don't know any of the police officers that were involved, but still shed a lot of tears. My heart goes out to the families.
