On October 12, 2022 Officer Alex Hamzy, Officer Alec Iurato and Sergeant Dustin DeMonte responded to a domestic disturbance call. As the three officers arrived on scene, a suspect ambushed all three officers. Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte were killed by the suspect. Officer Iurato was struck by gunfire, returned fire and killed the suspect.
This fundraiser will directly benefit Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte’s families. Thank you so much for your support.

No words..just love, respect and prayers
I have been deeply touched by the deaths of Lt. DeMonte and Sgt. Hamzy. They were doing their jobs with courage and a selfless devotion to helping people. From the terrible tragedy of the loss of their lives, they have brought together people all across Connecticut and beyond in our nation and even in other countries. In remembrance of them, we will be steadfast in respecting and honoring our policemen and supporting them with words and kindness as they protect and serve us. Dear DeMonte and Hamzy family members, you now have a much wider family. While unknown to you, I and so many others send you hope for a future that will be, although marked by tragedy, empowered and supported by our love. We will always remember Officers Dustin and Alex and carry you in our hearts.
