I , Elizabeth Titus am a retired NYPD officer . I served in the NYPD where I was assigned to patrol in Brooklyn south. After my husband James who is also a retired NYPD officer had a career ending injury in the line of duty that required multiple surgeries, I decided to take time off work to care for him and our small children. I did a vested retirement in June 2022 and moved with my family to NC in July . James and I have 2 small children ages 4 and 2 one of which has special needs . Shortly after Vesting out and moving I starting having neurological symptoms that impacted my ability to speak, memory, and range of motion with weakness and numbness on my left side . I spent my daughters 2nd birthday and my 34th birthday in the hospital where I underwent extensive testing including multiple MRIs and spinal tap. I was eventually diagnosed with relapsing remitting Multiple sclerosis and will need to have physical and occupational therapy and medication management . There is no cure for MS. This disease that affects the nervous system can be treated with medication and therapy to treat the symptoms and potentially slow the progression of brain and spinal cord lesions of which I have several. I am unable to work at this time . I ask that first and foremost you pray for my healing , and for my family . If you feel it in your heart, any contribution no matter how small is greatly appreciated and will go towards medical bills , essential therapies and cost of living expenses . God bless you .
