Didarul Islam was more than a Police Officer—he was a devoted father to two young boys, a beloved son, a caring husband, and a big brother not only to his sisters but to countless cousins, both here and in Bangladesh.
He arrived in the United States from Bangladesh in 2009, driven by a dream to build a better future for his family. That dream led him to proudly join the NYPD in 2021, where he dedicated himself to serving the city and the nation with honor.
Didarul leaves behind his pregnant wife, two little boys, his aging parents, two heartbroken sisters, and a wide circle of cousins, friends, and well-wishers whose lives he touched deeply.
He was known for his soft-spoken nature, boundless kindness, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He always showed up—without hesitation, without question.
We lost not just a brother, but a piece of our hearts.
May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest place in Jannah and surround his family with strength and mercy during this unimaginable time. Ameen.

The 4-7 mourns the loss of our comrade. Few know the pain, frustration, and exhaustion of being a Police Officer, let alone a cop in the Bronx. Islam showed up for work and answered the call to serve others continuously. He paid the ultimate price and that sacrifice WILL NEVER be forgotten amongst his peers in the 4-7. There’s a unique feeling of solidarity and commonality between those that serve in the 4-7, and Islam has no doubt earned that everlasting respect that we hold for those in the pantheon of our heroes. May Detective Islam find the peace and rest he undoubtedly deserves.
RIP Detective Islam. May your family find comfort amongst one another. My deepest sympathies 💙
