Didarul Islam was more than a Police Officer—he was a devoted father to two young boys, a beloved son, a caring husband, and a big brother not only to his sisters but to countless cousins, both here and in Bangladesh.
He arrived in the United States from Bangladesh in 2009, driven by a dream to build a better future for his family. That dream led him to proudly join the NYPD in 2021, where he dedicated himself to serving the city and the nation with honor.
Didarul leaves behind his pregnant wife, two little boys, his aging parents, two heartbroken sisters, and a wide circle of cousins, friends, and well-wishers whose lives he touched deeply.
He was known for his soft-spoken nature, boundless kindness, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He always showed up—without hesitation, without question.
We lost not just a brother, but a piece of our hearts.
May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest place in Jannah and surround his family with strength and mercy during this unimaginable time. Ameen.

Please accept my deepest and most sincere condolences for this tragic, unnecessary loss. My father was also an NYPD officer who passed and my family will keep Officer Islam's family in our daily prayers.
The family of New York mourns the loss of a son, brother, husband, father, and true hero. My prayers are with his family, friends, and all of the NYPD, that they may find peace and feel the love and gratitude of the entire community of New York for sharing with us Police Officer Islam.
