Medical First Responder. Humbly seeking financial assistance to help me in my uphill battle with healthcare.
I take this quote very seriously “Don’t think it can’t happen to you “ Well it did. My life as I had known was over in a blink of an eye.
Post Multi Level Lumbar Spinal fusion with cadaver bones and cages in 2018 Disabled me to the point of losing everything. Vehicle, housing, property, EVERYTHING. I was then put on Medicare and Medicaid along with low income SSDI. (Lost 2-4x income)
Malpractice/Negligence then caused severe complications in which going blind 4x to be diagnosed with a rare complex neurological disorder IIH(idiopathic intracranial hypertension) POTS Dysautonomia, Fibromyalgia, Seroma on Lumbar Spine,Degenerative disc disease entire spine with stenosis and osteoarthritis. Spondylosis, Dorsalgia, Visual Disturbances, Chronic Pain, Migraine,Nausea, Fatigue, Lethargy, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Electrolyte Imbalance (chest port- IV infusions daily of LR(lactose ringer’s) Vertigo, unsteady gait, A@Ox3 to time, place or events. (Cognitive) Fall Risk. Osteophytes throughout thoracic and cervical spine. 2 TIA(transient ischemic attack) Peripheral Neuropathy, Rheumatic Mitral Valve Regurgitation.
Drs and Palliative Care, etc.
Neurologist/Neurosurgeon -Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, Orthopedic Surgeon (R knee)- Neuro Ophthalmologist, Nephrologist, Urologist, Cardiologist, Vascular Specialist, PCP. Palliative Care, IV Infusion RN, Pain Specialist, GI, and they just keep adding more.
It’s more than a full time job it consumes your entire life. A viscous cycle of medical, everyday, all the time. I have Zero quality of life. Homebound with exception to Medical appointments, Testing, scans, labs.
It’s way to much to handle for 1 person. It literally requires a team. Patient Care Advocates will take your case of course if you pay them( we should automatically have these services. We do not. They will take over, make all calls, appts, Get medical records, take me to appointments with an advocate. They clean up all medical records that have been falsified or errors not fixed. They would be able to provide me with referrals for top Drs, Providers, to finally get me the competent, ethical care I’m so desperate for. It requires a down payment and costs about 5k.
Dentist-5k I just had 2 emergency root canal’s for abscessed teeth. Temporary Crowns. I just found out no more insurance money. Because of all the meds I take (18 pills) daily that I multiple cavities due to all medications and dry mouth destroying my teeth which have always been taken care of before I became disabled. That’s another 5k.
I’m at my wits end in trying to figure out how I could not only get my health back and save my life with the Patient Advocacy company, and not lose all my teeth.
It’s a scary horrible place to be in. I have No Family. I can’t control my health but I can control my Mindset and Mind.
I have a small circle of friends that are my family. I thank God for them daily.
My health has declined so bad to be put on Palliative care and that is all due to being left untreated, Need a life saving surgery to give me my life back. Medicare and Medicaid is killing people. If I Had my Private Insurance like I’d had all my life I would be fixed, healed, dealing with some health issues but nothing compared to the daily hell I go through.
My Invisible Rare Complex Neurological Disorder is unimaginable. Most could not begin to understand the ailments.
I’ve been a Medical First Responder for 18 years +. Always taking care of others, all my life. It’s who I am. Now I find myself in need of some serious financial help. To be Vulnerable and put yourself out there to ask for it, the hardest thing for me. I’m a giver not a taker.
I don’t care what anyone says , if you don’t have your health you have nothing. I’ve been fighting and advocating for my health for almost 5 years. That’s beyond unacceptable on every level. Millions are suffering and dying because of denial of treatment, Negligence, deviation of basic standards of care practices.
