Hector was a 16 year veteran of the Nassau County Police Department working in the 5th precinct. He was a well respected friend and brother to everyone he worked with. Unfortunately, Hector contracted COVID-19 in the course of his duties. His passing due to his illness has brought sadness and shock to everyone. Hector is survived by his wife Jesenia as well as his 4 children Tiana, Lianna, Dahlia and Luke. This page is being set up to help offset the costs of the funeral and to show support for his family.

My deepest condolences to Jess, the kids, Nereida, the sisters Miriam, Nancy, Maribel and all the Nunez family. Thinking and praying for strength and peace. God bless.
I love, honor and respect you Hector! I am saddened and heartbroken at the reality that we are here physically without you. Your immediate and police family will always stay together in honor of you. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know you and your loved ones through our many years together. We were academy classmates from NYC (got in trouble together….if they could see us now) and rookies in the 5th precinct (we learned together). We spent 11 years on patrol together and you supported me with my promotion to become a Detective. Whenever I made my way back home to the 5th precinct for a case, you were always willing to help me no matter how big or small my request for assistance was for. You were always willing to translate no matter where it was (all over the county) and you always treated people with dignity and respect let it be the victim or the subject. I always loved working next to you. I always felt safe, protected and I knew good decisions were going to be made. God knows that I definitely tried recruiting you to the DD 😊! You always greeted me with a hug and graced me with that beautiful smile of yours. You always made me feel appreciated as your friend and as I spend time with your family, I know how much you loved and respected me as they shared so much of what you told them about our day one friendship (November 1, 2005). I will always hold that deep in my heart…! Thank you for always being my friend! I miss you so much. I know that you are watching over all of us as we navigate through this difficult reality. I give you my word that I will always be there for your family from this day forward. I 💙 you Hector Nunez! From your friend Missy Señora Butts!
A true Gentleman, you will be missed.
