War Stories Tactical Café will be a non-profit coffeeshop where veterans, first responders and correctional officers can go to vent, unwind or just grab a cup of coffee. The goal is to reduce the number of PTSD-related suicides. This is the beginning.
About 17 veterans commit suicide every day. 22 is the number everyone sees these days but statistics change. Veteran suicides are decreasing but they're still there. And veterans aren't the only ones suffering from PTSD. More officers/firefighters die from suicide than in the line of duty. Seeking help is often seen as a sign of weakness so reaching out is rare for those who sign up to protect their fellow citizens.
Funds raised in this campaign will go towards the set up as a non-profit, purchase of a building to use and the coffeeshop set-up.
Coffee would be free to anyone in a public service uniform, including scrubs. Once up and running, funds to cover operations costs would come from coffee sales to non-public servants, merchandise sales, donations and fundraisers.
