18 year old Andrea Geraldine Wright is the loving daughter of retired city of Peekskill Police officer Andre Wright.  After graduating high school she was excited to venture into the next steps of life.   She was enrolled in cosmetology school and excited to start classes in September of 2023.  Before even being able to start her classesAndrea started to have very bad stomach issues.  After a few weeks of the pain not subsiding,Andrea went to the doctors where blood work and scans were conducted.  The initial scan results were concerning to her doctor, and Andrea was immediately referred to a specialist at Montefiore Einstein in New York City.  While waiting for herappointment, scheduled in 4 days’ time, the specialist that was made aware of Andrea’s case, rushed the blood work results, which revealed that Andrea had stage 2 cancer, Germ cell malignant tumor in her uterus.  This cancer is found in only 8% of the female population between the ages of 8 and 25 years oldand was such an aggressive and rapidly spreading cancer that her doctors needed to act quickly.  Andrea was immediately taken to the Montefiore Hospital that same day and scheduled for emergency surgery.  A Tumor the size of a baby was removed and her cancer was upgraded to stage 3.  Due to Andrea’s cancer being so rare, the doctors requested if she would be willing to take part in a treatment study, in the hopes of helping future patients, to which she agreed, without any hesitation.  As of today, Andrea has undergone chemo treatments and has had 3 surgeries all in the hopes of not only surviving, but benefiting others.  Andrea has not given up the fight and has remained positive and steadfast in her desire to help others throughout her battle.  She is a “fearless trooper” as quoted by her doting father. On April 5th Andrea received her last round of Chemo along with the news from her doctors that the Cancer has gone into remission.  She is continuing to work with doctors in the study and will continue to have constant follow-up visits to assure her cancer does not return

Understandably, her diagnosis was devastating for her family, especially her parents, who have been by her side from day one.  Throughout her treatments her family has travelled to and from NYC and has stay at hotels in NYC, to assure they were always close by.  Between the cost of past treatments, travel and anticipated future follow-ups and treatments, there has been a great financial burden.   This fundraiser was created to assist with the unforeseen mounting bills.  Any donation to support them through this financial strain is greatly appreciated. Let’s help this blue family as their daughter has so selfless doneduring her battle with cancer.
