Lake Charles, Louisiana has been devastated the last 9 months with Natural disaster after Natural  Disaster. We are currently dealing with the 4th Disaster, massive flooding.

The first disaster was Hurricane Laura (CAT 4) that made land fall August 29, 2020.  Prior to the landfall Officers are tasked with several duties across to the city to help prepare and evacuate. Officers have little time to prepare their own homes and families. After Laura made landfall these Officers worked around the clock in recovery and rescue efforts to the citizens of the city. These recovery efforts are currently still on going. After approximately 30 days Officers were able to return to a normal schedule and start repairing their homes. These repairs start with replacing the roof and structure of the residence and removing all insulation and sheet rock along with any personal belongings.

As these officers are in the process of fighting with their insurance company and repairing their homes out of pocket in hopes the insurance company will come through, Delta enters the Gulf of Mexico with a heading of Lake Charles.  Officers are then activated to work around the clock to prepare and Evacuate the citizens.

Delta makes Landfall October 12, 2020 44 days after Laura. Delta comes through and rips the new roofs off and pours rain inside the newly repaired residences. Officers now have to come back and again remove all the wet sheet rock, insulation, floors and now tarp their new roofs that now have to be removed.

Mid February, 2021 Lake Charles is then struck with a record Ice Storm. Officers are still displaced from their residence while they are in repairs. The damage that was caused by this Ice storm consisted of broken water pipes, fallen trees, loss of power and further damage to roofs.

Fast forward to today, Lake Charles has now been devastated by record breaking torrential rain and flooding. Officers that are still working towards or have had their houses repaired are now contending with rising water in areas that have never seen flooding. Most of these officer do not have insurance that deal with rising water due to them not living in a flood area. These officers will yet again have to start the process of ripping floors out and cutting sheet rock down and throwing out furniture that was just purchased to replace what was lost during Hurricane Laura and Delta.

All of this cost will be coming out of pocket for officers.

Our Goal with this fundraiser is to attempt to lighten burden on these officers. Every cent helps.
