ALS Treatment for Kris Heaton

Created September 27th, 2023

Kris is the wife of our Chief of Police and was recently diagnosed with ALS. The type that she has is very rare and fast moving but has a new treatment that can slow the progression. Unfortunately her insurance has denied coverage for this treatment classifying it as "experimental". Through a program with the drug company she will be able to get her first round of treatments but the Heatons will to have to pay for monthly treatments moving forward.

Below is a letter posted by one of their daughters:

Help My Brave Mom Battle ALS!

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Strangers,

I am reaching out with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit. My incredible mother has been diagnosed with ALS, a devastating neurodegenerative disease. To our dismay, our insurance, has denied her the treatment she urgently needs which costs 14,000 dollars a month. Now, we are turning to you, our community, to help us bridge the gap and give my mom the fighting chance she deserves.

About My Mom: My mom has always been the backbone of our family. Her strength, love, and resilience have seen us through the toughest of times. She is not just a mother but a beacon of hope, a mentor, and our rock. Her laughter is infectious, and her wisdom is immeasurable. It's unimaginable to think of a world without her radiant presence.

Why Every Day Matters: The treatment she requires could potentially slow down the progression of ALS, giving her more time to spend with us, her children, and her grandchildren. Every moment we can cherish, every memory we can make, every day we can hold onto her a little longer is worth every penny. Because it’s not just about prolonging life, but enriching the quality of every day she has.

How You Can Help:

Donate – Any amount, big or small, brings us one step closer to getting my mom the treatment she needs.

Share – Even if you can't donate, sharing our story with your network can amplify our reach and potential support.

Pray & Send Good Vibes– Keep us in your thoughts. Your positivity and well wishes mean the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer. We are forever grateful to each and every one of you for standing with us during this challenging time.

Warmest Regards,
Ronna Gross
