Amanda of Irish Angel Needs Our Help After Being Horribly Impacted by Hurricane Helene

Catastrophic Loss
North Carolina
Created October 7th, 2024
Hi everyone, this is Kristen from Blue_Wives_Matter. One of our own was horribly impacted by Hurricane Helene a few Fridays ago. Amanda is the Executive Director of the nonprofit "Irish Angel" that we all know and love and her beau James, a Navy Veteran that served as a Fireman to the Navy have been devastated by the Hurricane. They are extremely grateful to have their lives although they have lost everything including their home, all their personal belongings, their business premises, their personal cars and business vehicles.

Amanda and James had just moved to North Carolina this past May. They found the perfect house on a peaceful street filled with mostly senior citizens as their neighbors. Nice and quiet. No one had flood insurance because it doesn't flood in North Carolina, right? Well....

Two Fridays ago the worst happened and Helene hit their peaceful street.
James heard people shout for help on the street and immediately went outside with another neighbor by the name of James. They put on life vests to help the people trapped in their homes. One of the couples are in their 90’s. One of which has cancer and is blind and another with Alzheimer’s disease, they also aided another neighbor that is a paraplegic to safety. They took the people to Amanda in their home as their house was the last one to get hit with water. Amanda took them in, one by one and when all were inside the house the water rose from ground level to upwards of 5 ft high in the space of 20 minutes.

James came up with a plan to climb the 20/30 foot embankment at the back of the house. Amanda said open the door and let her go get help. James tied a rope around Amanda so she could swim safely across to the other side of the embankment and climb to get help. Neighbors from above came to create a human chain to lift people to safety as the current was too strong to get first responders to them to assist. They used the cushions from their new sofa to float everyone to the bank with ropes to be lifted to safety. Amanda and James are so thankful that everyone survived and is doing well.
Thanks to the neighbors that aided in the rescue, Amanda and James now have a temporary place to stay as Seán and Ashley were gratuitous enough to allow them stay with their family in their home.

As we all know how she is, Amanda has been busy feeding the neighbors, workers and first responders, James is aiding in the demolition of the neighbors homes to try save what they can while Amanda is caring for her displaced neighbors and trying to get the local K9 and cadaver dogs the equipment they need so they can do their jobs.

Let's help Amanda in her time of need. C'mon everyone let's show Amanda how much she really means to us. Donate now! Thank you.
