I am a Corrections Officer of 18 years with the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Illinois. Last year, I slipped on the stairs helping my girlfriend bring an item into the house and fractured my left ankle in three spots. I only worked 5 months last year and used all my benefit time.

Three weeks ago, I slipped on ice and fractured my right ankle, requiring surgery. After a month, I am completely out of benefit time again and looking to be out for 3 to 6 months.

I was just hoping that maybe I can ask some of my brothers and sisters for some assistance because I do not know how I am going to go three to six months without a paycheck.

Any help that anybody could offer would be of great assistance and I would greatly appreciate it!!!
