We are restoring a NYPD 1987 Chevrolet Caprice police car that an officer was murdered in in 1988.in order to make it into a memorial for future officers to learn from. And make a scholarship fund in his name with funds not used on the vehicle.

From the comments we’ve read, we are so grateful and proud for the opportunity to save a piece of our history that is attached to a life lost. This memorial will stand for all time in memory of Edward Byrne and all the others who made the ultimate sacrifice. They will always be our brothers and sisters. I can tell you all, this memorial will make you emotional. Thank you from us all!
Restoration is moving along. Vehicle is back from body shop and looks insane. We are reinstalling all the trim and interior. Anticipating a late April early May reveal at the academy.
RMP 1041 is currently at the body shop and has been stripped down to bare metal in preparation of the blue and white paint. Once we get it back from the body shop we will be installing the interior, wheels and lightbar.

I only had five years on the job when Eddie was murdered. The third since I came on. Serious reality check. I finished my career at FSD. (Fleet Services Division) I’m surprised that they are not helping out! Thank you for what you are doing!
