On October 12, 2022 Officer Alex Hamzy, Officer Alec Iurato and Sergeant Dustin DeMonte responded to a domestic disturbance call. As the three officers arrived on scene, a suspect ambushed all three officers. Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte were killed by the suspect. Officer Iurato was struck by gunfire, returned fire and killed the suspect.
This fundraiser will directly benefit Officer Hamzy and Sergeant DeMonte’s families. Thank you so much for your support.

Sgt. DeMonte and Officer Hamzy's ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten and my sincerest condolences go out to their families, friends and co-workers. To Officer Iurtao, you are the true embodiment of a hero. Under unimaginable circumstances you got the job done and most likely saved the lives of many more people that the suspect would have no doubt killed. This could have turned into a mass shooting in the matter of minutes and you prevented that - to say thank you somehow doesn't seem quite adequate, but your actions were truly amazing, so thank you for being you. I wish you a speedy recovery.
