Detective Joseph Daigneault is a true public servant whose life has been defined by dedication, courage, and sacrifice. His journey of service began at just 18 years old when he answered the call as an EMT, responding to emergencies and caring for the sick and injured throughout New York City. That early commitment to helping others led Joe to the NYPD, where he would go on to serve with honor for 27 years.
Joe began his law enforcement career patrolling the streets of Brooklyn South, where he protected some of the city’s toughest neighborhoods. His skill, professionalism, and leadership earned him a place in the NYPD’s elite Special Operations Division as a Pilot in the Aviation Unit. There, he earned the distinguished title of Detective—a reflection of both his expertise and his unwavering dedication to the people of New York.
On September 11, 2001, Joe, like so many of New York’s Finest, rushed toward danger in response to the attacks on the Twin Towers. But his service didn’t end that day—he continued to report to Ground Zero in the difficult days and weeks that followed, committed to doing whatever was needed for his city and his fellow New Yorkers.
Joe is not only a hero in uniform—he’s a devoted husband to his wife Suzanne and a proud father to their three sons. A family man, a protector, a friend—Joe has always been there when others needed him.
Today, Joe needs us. He is currently battling Stage 4 cancer linked to his time spent at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11. This illness is a stark reminder of the lasting toll that day took on our first responders.
Now is the time to give back to someone who gave so much. Any donation—no matter the size—will go toward helping Joe and his family through this incredibly difficult time. Let’s stand by his side the way he stood by ours.

Thank you for service. I understand how difficult an illness can be for you and your family. My son is also ill. God bless.
