9/11 Volunteer & Founder of "Cops Helping Cops" Battling Stage 4 Cancer
His Lifelong Mission of Service
In September 2001, when our nation faced its darkest hour, Chris Lyons did what he has always done: he ran toward the crisis. As a volunteer first responder, Chris spent grueling weeks working directly on the pile at Ground Zero, assisting in the vital search, rescue, and recovery efforts.
His deep commitment to service didn't stop there. Driven by his experiences, Chris went on to lead Cops Helping Cops, an organization dedicated to disaster relief. Through this initiative, Chris spent countless days and nights responding to major national disasters, providing direct support, supplies, and assistance to fellow first responders, soldiers, and civilians in their hours of greatest need.
The Current Battle
Today, Chris is facing a deeply difficult personal battle. He has been diagnosed with Stage 4 9/11-related cancer, a direct consequence of the toxic environmental exposure he endured while volunteering at Ground Zero.
Chris has spent his entire life answering everyone else's call for help. Now, it is our turn to answer his.
