Providing emotional first aid when bad things happen.

Engine House 87 is a not-for profit organization (501c3) providing education and support involving after incident trauma and emotional first aid. While a majority of our efforts are the production and publication of books, training materials and web content we will soon assist volunteer fire departments, law enforcement, churches and other civic organizations with setting up and training Community Crisis Response teams. Anchored in a background of community fire safety and prevention education and with over 6000 hours as a Crisis Response team leader, I realized the need to fill a void in after incident support when bad things happen.

Engine House 87 provides training materials at little or no cost to first responders, volunteer organizations and the general public. Churches used to do it, neighbors used to do it but in this age of tweets and iphone communication little consideration is given to the emotions that are manifested by responders, families directly involved and even bystanders.  How many times have you witnessed an accident or fight and everyone drives by or stands around with camera (phone) in hand.
