I am a Navy Veteran who married another Navy Veteran. Together we are raising a family of daughters who also want to serve our community.

After a 4 year battle with stage 4 breast cancer that almost took my life more than once, I was well enough to support my husband in following his dream of becoming a Police Officer in New Smyrna Beach.

With everything going as planned I became a Patient Care Tech working in the Progressive Care Unit at Advent Health New Smyrna. We were living the dream.

October 2nd as I was working I had a stroke, was coded and sent to the ED of my own hospital. Since then I have learned that I am having uncontrolled seizures every hour. Some are minor and some are full-blown petite mal seizures. My husband has tried his hardest to stay by my side and care for me but as we all know the bills never stop coming.

I hate to have to ask for help, but our simple life is more than the Police department pay can handle. I am hopeful that by the end of the year my doctors will figure out what is happening and get me back to work. But I am terrified that I may be put on permanent disability.  I'm a worker and don't know where to turn to cover the gap between now and then.

My husband's brother in arms has afforded us the opportunity to turn to all of you for help. We do so with heavy hearts and a face full of tears. We don't know what the future looks like but we need your help to get there.

As we pay the endless doctor bills and co-pays to keep moving forward with treatment we keep falling further behind and I don't want my husband worried about finances, I want his mind clear to protect the community he swore to protect and be vigilant and keep himself and his shift mates safe.

Our goal for this campaign is just to survive this journey and be able to continue to live. Please find it in your heart to help our blue family and help in any way. We promise to do the same when we are out of our storm. This to shall pass, we believe this with all our heart.

Thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts.

I had my follow up MRI today. No results yet, but I should know by the time that I see my neurologist on Monday afternoon. The MRI went as well as it could have gone. it induced a migraine, which i was expecting. So, after my daughter drove me home I took some migraine medication and went to sleep. I'm still feeling groggy, but thankful to be able to spend another day with my family. Thank you for all of the prayers, love, shares and support  You all have become like a big, extended family to me. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving.

I had an ultrasound of my kidneys today and just spoke with my nurse. I have a little bit of good news to share. They didn't see any masses on my kidneys, or kidney stones. My right kidney is swollen from a bad infection. The 1st antibiotic wasn't working, but hopefully this new one and the pain med combo will help. Tomorrow is MRI day. Please say a prayer for me  I'll update everyone once it's over.

Good morning to our beautiful community, friends and family. Please forgive me for not updating all of you in a couple of days. I've not been feeling well and have had several doctors appointments. This afternoon I have an ultrasound of my kidneys. My doc thinks that I might have kidney stones. I've been on a course of antibiotics for what he was on the fence was a UTI or kidney infection for the last two weeks. He was leaning more towards UTI at the time because most of my symptoms were presenting that way. However, things have not gotten better  and symptoms of kidney stones are now presenting. My antibiotics have been changed and the ultrasound is to confirm. if it confirms stones I'm not really sure what that means. Tomorrow my MRI is scheduled at 1215 and those results should be ready for my appointment with my neurologist on the 30th. I want to thank each and every one of you for being so incredibly generous, encouraging and loving towards my family and me. I'm grateful for all of you and I have so much love in my heart for you too. I hope that you have a happy Thanksgiving. I will try to update everyone tomorrow ❤

Good evening community, family and friends. I wanted to give everyone a quick update. Two days ago I started developing a painful, burning in my right thumb and forefinger. This can be a common side effect of Topamax but, I will confirm with my neurologist on the 30th. It's not terribly debilitating, just causes me to drop things a little bit more than usual. I want to thank everyone again for the outpouring of love and support. I pray that God blesses each and everyone of you more than you have already blessed and continue to bless my family.

Good morning to our beautiful community, extended family and friends. I  hope that everyone had a good week. Nothing much has changed. I did have a seizure later in the evening after my eye exam on Wednesday. Kris and I were expecting it due to the flashing lights and dilation, but it wasn't too severe and thankfully I was laying in bed next to my husband. I've been battling a migraine for the last two days and have been able to manage it with the pill vs. the injection and that is tremendous progress. I have a lot of anxiety or "scanxiety" as I like to call it about this upcoming MRI. Reading messages from all of you of hope and encouragement give me strength to get through each day. I wanted to share a few pictures. The first one is of my twice daily meds. Part are since my metastatic breast cancer diagnosis in 2013 and part are since onset of seizure disorder. The other photo is of my family  They are the reason that I promised God that I would do everything to fight since I found out I had stage 4 breast cancer, all the infections and complications that came along with it and the stroke and seizure disorder that came out of the blue. I believe in being totally transparent and this is me being real and laying my soul bare.
